So you are thinking about moving to Evergreen Colorado? You may be wondering, is Evergreen Co a nice place to live? You probably have a lot of questions since Evergreen is most likely much different than anywhere you have lived before and you don’t have any idea what to expect. I moved here from Texas and I understand exactly where you are coming from.
First off I am going to say that Evergreen is an amazing place to live. It has all the advantages of living in a small town with the big city advantages of being near Denver.

What should I expect the weather to be like in Evergreen, Colorado?
You truly get all four seasons in Evergreen and each one is amazing in its own way. Winter is beautiful and yes we get snow. Depending on the elevation you live at this will determine how much snow you get. I live at 7,500 ft elevation and the snow I get is very manageable. It is very sunny here and it quickly melts the snow. Evergreen is not a gray and dreary place to live all Winter. Because of the lack of humidity it is hard to relate temperatures here to other places in the country. For example, a sunny 40 degree day in Evergreen you will find people in shorts. In Texas on a sunny 40 degree day you will find people in pants, long sleeve shirts and coats. There is more humidity in Texas so the cold sticks to you.
In the warmer months (May – October) you can expect the temperatures during the day to be in the 60’s to mid 80’s. It is about 10 degrees cooler in Evergreen than Denver and it makes all the difference in the world. The Summers here are AMAZINGLY beautiful. You don’t need air conditioning and you can open your windows and doors and bring the outdoors inside.

Does the snow make it hard to get around?
The roads are very well maintained so getting around town is not a problem. If you live on a county maintained road then your roads will be plowed early so the school buses can get around. I do encourage you have a four wheel drive or all wheel drive car though.
What are the people like?
There are people from all walks of life in Evergreen. Many are transplants here looking for a change of pace. I have found that many people that live here are active, enjoy nature and are very friendly. One of my favorite things is the people that run and work for the businesses here. When you go to the grocery store you will encounter the same people working there so you get to know each other on a first name basis. The same is for the coffee shops in town. It makes for a more intimate small town feel and I really like that.
What’s the music scene like?
Evergreen is very active with events that support the music scene as well as Cactus Jacks (Summer Patio Bands), Little Bear Saloon and The Muddy Buck (Thursday & Friday nights). There is also the Summer concert series at Evergreen Lake that is free and a lot of fun.
What is the art scene like?
Evergreen is a very active community for the creative arts. There are several art galleries in downtown Evergreen, as well as the Sculpture Walk which are sculpture installations that are displayed all over Evergreen for you to enjoy. There is Center for The Arts Evergreen which runs Summerfest and Winterfest events to support and promote the artists in this community.
What kind of wildlife is common in Evergreen?
Evergreen is abundant in wildlife. It is common to see deer, elk, fox, chipmunks, ducks, hawks, owl, trout and a plethora of birds. Some less common wildlife you may encounter here are moose, and bald eagles. Bears and mountain lions are common here but not seen very often.
What are popular outdoor activities?
